Week 12 Studio Class

This weeks guest speaker was Russell Lowe. We know that Russell's interest is utilising real time engines in creating architecture and in this presentation he showed us what he was currently working on.

He's current project was a hospital that required a visualisation of how a hospital machine carries patients in and out of bed. With this project he was able to concluded the need for more space in this room for the apparatus to work successfully.

One other project he was creating with the help of former graduates of Architectural Computing was a bar/display space designed in Sydney that illustrates and represents the effect of global warming and in particular the threat of a scenario where a climate that increases water levels. Crysis was used for this particular design and he was impressed by the editor capability to design visually accurate water and various animated compoments with ease.

Russell instilled in us the potential for these engines in architecture and beyond. What we are doing currently in our fabrications are a great example to what is available to companies and clients currently and how its use could revolutionise future developments into these concepts.
